allows an Electric Utility to effectively manage power consumption
within every residence served by the utility without affecting the
"Quality of Life" of the consumer. |

Other PowerView™ features give the
Utility significant cost savings and improved customer service. In
other words, PowerView™ will allow the utility to control peak
loads, reduce consumption, reduce operating costs, and keep consumer
rates in check. |
Orion's
technology was developed for the power utility industry in the mid-to-late
90's, and is covered by multiple patents. Trial deployments were conducted
in three locations in the U.S., encompassing over 2,000 homes. These
trials proved that PowerView™ could reduce peak period cost of electricity
by 30% and total electrical demand per residence by an average of 9% without affecting the quality of life of
the consumer. These field trials of PowerView™ were conducted prior to
electric power deregulation, and widespread deployments were not carried
out because:

Electrical
utilities did not view the need to conserve with a great sense of
urgency.

The cost of
PowerView™ could not be incorporated into the base rate until electric
power deregulation was completed.
Clearly, the
conservation of electrical energy will be a top national priority for the
foreseeable future. |
